Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls for Dinner

We eat breakfast for dinner at least once a month, if not more often.  Breakfast is one of our favorite meals.  We typically go all out and have eggs, sausage, biscuits… the works.  There are times, though, that I need breakfast for dinner to be SO. MUCH. QUICKER. than all of that.

I was recently on my weekly Thursday Sam’s Club shopping run with my two little helpers.  Aren’t they cute?#CBias #TysonBreakfast 07

While shopping for frozen fruit (for smoothies) I saw something I knew I wanted to try… Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls.  I snapped a picture with my phone and sent it to my husband, with the question “Breakfast for Dinner?”  I figured at less than $10, it would make a cheap dinner for all of us, and I wouldn’t have to add much to it.  #TysonBreakfast

Hubs was agreeable, so in the cart they went with the milk and produce.  I was excited to try them.  Even more excited that they are microwavable and would reduce dinner prep time substantially, which was great since breakfast for dinner was on the menu for a Monday evening.  I volunteer at a food pantry on Monday’s, and like to keep dinners simple and easy, because I am typically exhausted by the time dinner rolls around.

I’ve used Tyson chicken products in the past, and have always been pleased with the results.  I didn’t realize, though, that they were in the breakfast business before seeing the  #TysonBreakfast Bread Bowls.

After grabbing a few more items, I went through checkout, then out to load the van.  I travel with a cooler on grocery shopping days, since I often have items that need to be kept chilled and or frozen.

The hardest part?  Waiting until Monday to have them for dinner!  I wanted to try them right away!

Soon enough, Monday arrived, and it was Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls, hash brown patties, and fresh fruit for dinner.

Hubs and I really enjoyed ours.  The kids?  Let’s just say new foods often have to be served more than once before they are won over.  But won over they were.  When I purchased them, my Sam’s Club only had the sausage, egg, and cheese variety.  Now they also offer the bacon, egg, and cheese.  I can’t wait to try those!  These WILL be on the menu again!

White Chocolate Butterscotch Pecan Cups

Hubs enjoys white chocolate and pecans, so I decided to surprise him and made him some White Chocolate Butterscotch Pecan cups.  I have one chocolate cup mold, that I keep separate from the rest of my candy molds, that I allow nuts in (not peanuts, but walnuts or pecans).  As you can see, it says “Nuts” on it.  LOL.

Fortunately, with the recently holiday candy sales, it was easy enough to find real white chocolate.  I melted it in my Wilton Chocolate Pro and poured it in the candy mold.  I put a pecan half in each well, then melted butterscotch chips and topped them off.

After they were set, I put them in candy liners, and then boxed them up for him.   He was pleasantly surprised.  And of course, put them up high so no little hands could reach them.

Chocolate WOWBUTTER Cups

I recently got out my Wilton Chocolate Pro and candy molds to make chocolate bunny lollipops for Mister’s Easter basket.  While I had them out, I decided to try my hand at making Chocolate WOWBUTTER Cups.  chocolate cup mold

Hubs and I really like a certain peanut butter cup candy, but are unable to enjoy them very often because of Mister’s allergy.  I’m not sure why I’ve never thought to do this before, since we’ve used WOWBUTTER, a peanut butter replacement, for what feels like ever.

After I melted the peanut free chocolate chips (I used a blend of milk chocolate and semi-sweet) , I poured some into each well of the chocolate cup mold.  I don’t own a candy brush, so I used my silicone food brushes to paint the chocolate up the sides of the mold.  I put them in the refrigerator for a few minutes to set.  While they were setting, I made the WOWBUTTER filling with .

Then I placed a dollop in each chocolate cup and covered it with more melted chocolate.  I put them in the refrigerator again to set.

After I took them out, I enjoyed one before I put the rest in a treat box to share with family.

Oh. My. Yum!

Next time, I will skip the molds and make them in the paper liners.

Mister absolutely loved his “not-peanut-butter-cups!”

Cheerios Treats

I recently decided to make cereal treats, which I hadn’t done in a LONG time.  I had pink and green marshmallows, and thought they would make cute treats.  I wasn’t sure how the pink and green would melt together, so I separated two bags into pink and green piles.

Cheerios Treats

I was out of crispy rice cereal, but had plenty of Cheerios on hand, so Cheerios Treats it was.  I was fine with that, since Cheerios are made with whole grains.

I melted the butter in the microwave, added pink marshmallows, and turned the microwave on again.  I was then distracted by one of my two little ‘uns.

Having no clue that I cooked the marshmallows far too long, I added the Cheerios and spread them out on the parchment in my half sheet pan.

Next up, green.

I repeated the microwave process, albeit with less distraction, and then spread the green cereal treats on the same sheet pan as the pink.

Cheerios Treats

Pretty, huh?

After they had time to set, I attempted to cut them.

IMG_1420The pink ones were harder than brick bats, and impossible to cut.  They made the short trip to the trash can.

Cheerios TreatsThe green ones, however, turned out perfect.  They made it to the cake plate, to be enjoyed by everyone.

As it turns out, everyone that tried the Cheerios Treats said that they preferred them over the rice cereal treats.   In fact, they disappeared so quickly, I had to make more before the weekend was over.  What a pity, right?  Because I only had half a bag of the pink and green ones left, I had to use mini white marshmallows in the new batch, but the pink and green made it cute anyway.

What started out as a pantry shortage solution has turned into a family favorite… I guess I will be making these again!

Cheerios Treats

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Cheerios
  • 3 tablespoons butter, salted
  • 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Melt butter in microwave safe dish.
  • Add marshmallows and stir, coating marshmallows with the butter.
  • Microwave at 50% power for 1-2 minutes, being careful not to overheat marshmallows.
  • Add Cheerios to mixture, stirring with spoon that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Pour Cheerios mixture onto parchment covered half sheet pan.
  • Use either sprayed palms or sprayed spoon to spread mixture evenly.
  • Mixture will cover half of a 12x17 pan, may double recipe to cover entire pan.
