Bee Costume

Press Sample

As I mentioned in my First Bee Day Party Decor post, we chose the bumble bee theme for Little Miss first birthday party.  I was so excited when I received an opportunity to review a Bizzy Lil Bee costume, as it would be perfect for her one year pictures.  The bee costume comes in XSmall(fits 12-18 months, or up to 32″ and 24 pounds) and Small(fits 18-24 months, or up to 34″ and 28 pounds).  At nearly 25 pounds and 31 inches, Little Miss is in the 97th percentile for height and weight.  I ordered the Small and was admittedly a bit nervous that it would be TOO small until I tried it on her.  The costume comes with the yellow and black romper, a black headband with antennae, a yellow and black polkadot ribbon to tie a bow onto the headband, and wings with glittery sparkles.  The wings are removable, which is really nice.  Shoes are not included with the outfit.

It fit, so I loaded the kids into the van and went to the portrait studio.

I stink at tying pretty bows, so I tied the ends of the ribbon to a ponytail holder and used it as a headband.  WAY TOO CUTE!

Take a peek at her proofs!

I had such a hard time choosing just one photo, but I knew when I went in that I wanted one of her standing since she started walking at 10.5 months.  I wanted it to reflect her developmental milestone.  KWIM?  I ended up picking the one of her looking up, rather than the one of her looking at the camera, because she just had this look of wonder on her face.  Presh.

I framed and matted the photo and used it as part of her party decor.  It was absolutely buzz worthy!

I haven’t had to launder the costume, since she only wore it for the photo session, so I can’t attest to how well it holds up, but we’ve generally been really pleased with the durability of the costumes we’ve received from AnytimeCostumes.

Speaking of things that are buzz worthy, I recently read a Mental Floss article on facts about bees.  Did you know that bees who consumed caffeine laced nectar remembered where the flower was, which increased the chances of a return visit.  Bees getting buzzed on caffeine.  Now that’s interesting.
