Nivea for Men plus giveaway

Nivea sent some Nivea for Men Platinum Protect 3-in-1 deodorizing hair and body wash and some Nivea for Men lip balm for review.

First up, the shower gel.  NIVEA FOR MEN Platinum Protect Deodorizing Body Wash – a 3-in-1 deodorizing hair, face and body wash with Smart Deo Technology removes dirt and odor causing substances while the intense foaming formula provides a Platinum-level clean without drying out your skin leaving a refreshing scent.  The 3-in-1 stands for Shower, Shampoo, and Deodorize.  The NIVEA FOR MEN Platinum Protect that I received is in the Ocean Burst scent.  It is pH skin balanced.

The NIVEA FOR MEN Platinum Protect Deodorizing hair and body wash works well.  It leaves me feeling clean and fresh.  It easily cuts through nasty sweat and grease, while deodorizing at the same time.  The body wash does not leave my skin dried out like other soap can.  I’ve used it as a hair wash, too, which is consistent with its labeling.  It will get your hair clean, but it doesn’t really leave it feeling soft as other shampoos would.  I think the Ocean Burst scent is one of the better scents that NIVEA FOR MEN has out.  It just has a deeper, more manly, of a scent to it.  If I used it continually, I think my wife would be chasing after me cause she likes it so well.  Overall, it is a great  body wash for those guys who are looking for a bit less expensive body wash product.

NIVEA FOR MEN Replenishing Lip Balm SPF 4  provides long lasting moisturization without leaving a visible residue.  It moisturizes and helps protect lips against sun and wind without shine or sticky residue.  It has moisturizers Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil in it, is fragrance free, and provides SPF 4 protection.

The lip balm they sent me seems to work okay.  It doesn’t leave a shine on the lips so it is virtually unnoticeable.  This is a good thing since most guys don’t like to wear lip balm.  It also doesn’t have a scent so you don’t have to worry about it smelling funny.  It goes on smooth and doesn’t leave any extra residue on your lips like some other brands can.  It kept my lips moist for several hours.

Overall, I really liked the NIVEA FOR MEN Platinum Protect Body Wash and will buy it again.  I don’t typically use lip balm (ever), so this one will last me a long time.  I would consider buying the NIVEA FOR MEN Replenishing Lip Balm SPF 4 if I run out and planned a beach vacation.

Nivea would like to send one lucky reader a NIVEA FOR MEN Platinum Protect Body Wash and NIVEA FOR MEN Replenishing Lip Balm SPF 4 to try out.  Like That Bald Chick and Nivea on Facebook for a jump start in this giveaway!

Cultivation Generation- My Foundation

In the 70s and 80s, when most mainstream denominations limited their worship to more traditional hymns, Vineyard Worship (formerly Vineyard Music) was using the unique nature of contemporary worship music.  Over the years, their music has gained a large following, and is now used by many churches.
Their newest album, Cultivation Generation- My Foundation, is a continuation of that tradition.
Track Listing:
Cultivation Generation My Foundation
My Soul Longs – The Neverclaim
Love Has Come, Love Has Won – Jesse Meyer
God Don’t Never Change – David Linhart
My Foundation – Anabeth Morgan
Let It Shine – Stephen Lampert
The Bridegroom – The Neverclaim
Your Kingdom’s Here – Jesse Meyer
Worthy – Anabeth Morgan
Life To Us – David Linhart
Enthroned On High – The Neverclaim
Walls Come Down – Stephen Lampert
They That Wait – The Neverclaim
Song Of Hope (Digital Bonus) – The Neverclaim
I will start by saying that I haven’t listened to any Vineyard Music in several years.  I have been listening to other albums, in more of the contemporary Christian category rather than the worship category.  So my music has been focused on mainstream artists such as Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, etc.  I do have the Dwell Album from Vineyard (2003) and while it was great,  I haven’t listened to anything from Vineyard since then.
The Cultivation Generation- My Foundation album starts with “My Soul Longs” which I think was a great way to start an album with the mix of music that it has.  Whether it is a slower worship song, like,  “Let It Shine,” or the electric-guitar driven “The Bridegroom,” or the upbeat songs “Walls Come Down” and “Your Kingdom’s Here,” this album has a song that can mean something for everyone.  Every song in this album is powerful.  From a worshiper’s perspective, every song, in my opinion, is meaningful and authentic.  Each song can lead different people, regardless of the types of music they like, into worship just by listening to them.  The authors of this collection are Vineyard’s best musicians and leaders, which results in an album with tracks that are recorded flawlessly.  The live setting of the album does lend to a livelier sound and encourages the listener to join in worshiping.  It was also neat to hear a Vineyard rendition of “Song of Hope.”
All in all, if you are looking for some fresh, up-to-date worship, you should get this album.
Album available wherever Christian music is sold and on iTunes.

Prescription Audio CD Review

Excuse me while I take over my wife’s blog for a minute to talk about Prescription Audio.

Prescription Audio

Prescription Audio was developed by Jill and Rod Slane, a husband-wife team, in 2005. Rod Slane is an experienced composer and innovative sound engineer. He created the Life Program, and then the Natural Wellness Therapy in 2006.  One of Prescription Audio’s earliest goals was to ease the mental suffering of Veterans affected by PTSD, and to that effect they supplied Miami Veteran Medical Center with Prescription Audio free of charge. Prescription Audio uses quantum harmonics, which are layers of sounds frequencies – including music and sound waves – to bring someone to a state of relaxation/sleep in a matter of minutes

When Virginia asked if I would be interested in reviewing the Prescription Audio CD’s, I immediately asked for the Chill CD.  To my surprise, I received both the Chill CD and the Noturne CD.

NocturneNocturne- helps users to get the most restorative levels of sleep in as little as 2 weeks

The Nocturne CD is a single 60 minute track meant to help you get to sleep  quicker and deeper.  It consists of mainly tones and nature sounds. You can hear the layered sounds and deep tones used to help guide your brain into a delta level of sleep.  Delta sleep is considered the deepest and most restful stage of  sleep.  I used this CD one night while going to sleep.  It was very relaxing and helped to clam my mind as I went to sleep. I can see how using it continuously overtime can help adjust your brain into getting better sleep.

Since our daughter recently decided to protest bedtime, I thought we should try the Nocturne CD out in her CD player at night.  While I am not certain if anything is going to deter her from throwing her nightly fit, it does seem like the fits are getting shorter.  I don’t know if it is the CD, or if she is just realizing that she still has to go to sleep.  Either way, I’m glad.  And I think I’ll keep the Nocturne CD in her player.

ChillChill- stress relief for the mind & body

The Chill CD consists of 5 relaxation tracks.  An 8 minute, a 15 minute, an evening meditation, and a longer 24 minute track with and without the guided voice over.

All the tracks offer a great mix of music, tones, and nature sounds. The 8 minutes track doesn’t have any voice over. The 15 minute track has a brief instructional voice over at the beginning as does the Evening Meditation.

The 24 minute track consists of the same. The voice over at the beginning focuses on your clearing your mind, your breathing, and relaxing muscles throughout your body.  I was hoping the voice over would have continued a bit more into the track, but it didn’t and by the time it was over,  I was glad that it didn’t because I think it would have been annoying if it did.  With it being the longest track,  I like the fact they copied it without any voice over and used it as the last track.

All of the tracks on Chill are very relaxing and natural sounding.  I could easily take a brief break at work and relax by using one of these.  It helped to clear my mind and to calm myself.   I have always wanted to find something like this to see how well it really works.

For both Nocturne and Chill, they highly recommend that you use headphones.   I can totally understand this as the tracks sound better with headphones and any background noise would be blocked out, making you focus on what you are listening to. When using the Nocturne CD, there are lower tones in it, which I think would work better with headphones (unless you have a nice stereo with a subwoofer).

Both of these CD’s worked great and I highly recommend you check them out.

You can learn more about Prescription Audio by visiting their website, Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube.

Oh, and my wife says I have to tell you that we received complimentary copies of the Chill and Nocturne CD’s to facilitate this review, and that all the opinions expressed are our own and are based on our own experience and that your experience may differ. Check.

Okay, now back to your regularly scheduled programming!

Brian
