Do you give much thought to what trash bag lines your trash can?
I never really have. After all, it is just going to the garbage heap somewhere in the “far far away.” What do I care about it, other than it contains those things which I no longer want in my home. Icky food, odds and ends, broken toys, vacuum bag contests, etc. They all get crammed in the bag.
Then I hope and pray said bag does not rip or leak when pried from the trash can to be taken out. That’s the extent of thought I give to the bags in my can.
There, are, however, artists who embrace the “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure… or another man’s masterpiece” philosophy. One is famed artist Jason Mecier, who has partnered with Glad to create upcycled works of art from the would-be trash of Hollywood stars, including Amy Smart, Jesse Eisenberg, Lauren Conrad, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Chelsie Hightower, and Nathan Kress.
What he created from TRASH is nothing short of amazing. It really is true, one man’s trash is another man’s masterpiece! Check out the these Mess to Masterpiece works of art!
These “Wildlife” pieces are presented by Glad in the Mess to Masterpiece Art Auction on eBay. You can bid on these original works of upcycled art between April 16 and 26, 2012. Auction proceeds benefit Keep America Beautiful and its mission to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments. No matter how wild life gets, cleanups are in the bag with Glad Black Bag.
Which piece is your favorite? I think my favorite is the Chimpanzee. He made it onto my pin board! Perhaps I lean to him because I feel like he is looking at me and saying, “Keep my home clean.” I hear a certain insurance company commercial in my head every time I see the duck!
I’ve never upcycled to art. I do use yogurt containers to hold hair bobbles for Sister, and deli trays to hold all sorts of odds and ends. But art? I am not that creative. How do you go about turning “trash to treasure?”
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Glad Black Bag and received a Glad Black Bag product and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate. I was also asked to “pin” one (1) Glad Black Bag Art Auction photo on Pinterest.

The raccoon is my favorite. Too cute!
