Sewing skirts and “Cheese, too!”

I thought I would show off the skirts that I’ve sewn for Sister.  They are nothing spectacular, trust me, but I think they are cute enough.  I made them both from old bed skirts that I picked up at Salvation Army.

The first one is her “Birthday Bear” skirt, which I made for her birthday.  She looked so cute in it.

The second one is a flower skirt that I finished last night.

I made the second one larger, anticipating that she would wear it as an 18 month size…

But she didn’t want to wait…

I don’t know what it is with her going around with Mister’s shoes on her hands, but she was doing it again today…

Whatever.

And Mister thought since I took a picture of Sister today, I should take one of him, too.  He jumped up in the chair and screamed, “Cheese, too!”

So, there ya go, “Cheese, too!”

Couples Night Out

My husband, Brian, and I had the immense pleasure of organizing and being the emcee’s for a Couples Night Out event for the couples of our church, New Voice Church.

The event took place on Friday evening, and boy was it a success.

My parents were nice enough to come over from Illinois to watch the kids so that Brian and I could set up, etc.  Of course, as I was showing my Mom how to use Sister’s nebulizer machine, the little rubber valve thing came out, and Brian had to spend nearly 20 minutes fixing it, which made us run late.

Needless to say, since I battle anxiety disorder, I was in near panic mode before he got it fixed.  My Mom, bless her heart, reminded me, “This is just a test, dear, will you pass or fail?”  To which I replied hastily, “I’ve already failed!”  LOL.

Finally, we were able to leave.

Larry and Belinda Wells, of Wells Family Photography, provided an opportunity for the couples to have their portrait taken as they arrived.  Here is the one of my dear hubby and I.

Two of our church youth, F. and N., served beverages as couples mingled and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres.

Hors d’oeuvres and dinner were catered by LoRusso’s Cucina of St. Louis.  The staff that served us, both Miss Jackie’s, were extremely courteous and professional.  The Flash Fried Spinach, which is one of their specialty’s, was absolutely phenomenal!  My dear hubby, who detests nearly all things green, even enjoyed some!  If you haven’t had the chance to visit LoRusso’s Cucina, I would suggest that you put it on your list of things to do!

After dinner, Pastor Mike played d.j. while a few of us danced.  Some of the women proved they have skill on the dance floor (wink, wink, you know who you are).  Since I am not a dancer by any means, I merely swayed to the music and occasionally moved my feet.  While I’m sure I didn’t fool anyone into thinking that I can dance, I did enjoy myself.  And the opportunity to dance with my husband is one that I always enjoy.

Following the dance time, we showed Jeff Allen’s Happy Wife Happy Life, Revisited video.  It was a sure hit.  One of the ladies later commented that she laughed so hard her head pounded for hours.  So sorry to be the cause of a headache, but Jeff Allen is so funny it’s totally worth it!

I believe that a fun time was had by all!

And, I learned (or was reminded of) a few very important things…

1.  I stink at asking people to do things.

2.  The devil relishes attacking Christians just before God intends to bless them.   But if you just hang on to Jesus, the devil has to tuck tail and run, and your blessing will await you on the other side of the test.

A huge thanks to all of those that helped make the night a success.  You know who you are, and you know that without your help, it would not have happened!

Be blessed,

Virginia

Have you seen the SwitchFlops by Lindsey Phillips

They are funky little flip flops that you can switch the strap on.  I saw them while I was in Branson, and wanted a pair, but wasn’t able to get them at the time.
