Scrapping Emotion by Color

We learned that when choosing colors for a layout, you do not have to use the colors reflected in the photos.  Instead, you can choose your colors based on the emotion you want to invoke.

Here I used the color purple to reflect selflessness and generosity, two traits required to make our family complete.  I blurred the faces of the birthparents because I don’t have permission to post their pictures on the web.  So, if you’re in the family, e-mail me for the original.

My Lil Angel

Here are Selah’s One Month Photos, courtesy of Wells Family Photography.

This one will be converted to black and white and will be displayed as a 16×20 in our living room, opposite the one of Zane at the same age, which looks like this…

The one of Zane has Daddy’s hand holding him and Daddy’s finger stroking his cheek.  The one of Selah is my hand holding her.

We also had this one as an option…

This one is my hand holding her, and Daddy’s hand resting on her back.  I like it, but I like the first one better.  I like the way her hair looks in the first one, and she also looks more relaxed in it.

This is her angel pose…

Of course, in the prints, the white blanket will be edited out and it will look like she is in the sky. hig_0036_e1

Would you look at that smile!  What a cutie.

These are her pretty yellow dress poses…

They are both adorable, but I thought her head was at a funny angle in the second one, so I ordered prints of the first one.  I know, I know, the smirk is in the second one… I just didn’t like the angle of her head.  The first one looked more natural to me.  Unfortunately, my MIL liked the second one better, so, we may have to order more.  LOL.

Operation Sabotage

I believe I have uncovered a covert plot , undertaken by Agent Z and Agent S, which was aimed at staging a coup on my sanity… Operation Sabotage.  The two sleuth saboteurs were recently overheard cooing in code, when the apparent scheme was hatched.  Following that conversation, the two have taken turns waking up at night, waiting for one to doze off before sounding the alarm.  They’ve also teamed up to get up early and stay up late.  Then, just after sleep deprivation had set in, the embarked on a series of mess making and harrowing feats…

Agent Z is seen here painting with yogurt…

And here attempting to save Agent S from the dreaded boppy…

Then, as if she thought Agent Z needed assistance in his achieving mayhem, Agent S soaked my sheets with pee.  How she managed to do that with a 12×24 changing pad under her is beyond me… but, at 4 a.m. this morning, I was changing sheets.

Arghhhh….

Time Flies

Many times in my life I have heard the phrase, “Time Flies.”  I have always imagine tiny timepieces with wings zipping through the air when I hear it.  It is amazing to me how time can seemingly disappear, as if a vapor in the wind.

Just yesterday, we got the call that our daughter’s birth was imminent.  And yet, today, she is 31 days old.  That seems impossible to me.

Here she is on her first St Patty’s Day…

IMG_7877

Whoever said babies don’t smile until they are between three and four months old (baby milestones chart) obviously hasn’t met my daughter.  She smiles when she eats.  She smiles when she dirties her diaper.  She smiles when she sleeps.  She smiles when her big brother lays down next to her and squeals “Hi there!” in his sing song way.  She smiles when I call her name.  She smiles.  A LOT.

Now, if only I could get a picture of her WITH her big brother, with both of them smiling at me.  That would make my day.  Instead, I get this…

Arghhhhhh!

How do professionals get more than one child to smile at them at the same time?

Ever been Geocaching?

My DH thought it would be fun to try, so we gave it a whirl.

According to www.geocachin
g.com
, “Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.”

So, we (by we, I mean Brian) found our chose our first destination and printed off a map of the local park.  Then we (by we, I mean all four of us) went to the park.  Then we (by we, I mean Brian) used the GPS to locate the cache.  It was really a lot of fun.  We (by we, I mean Brian and I) walked all over the park.  I pushed the double stroller with the kids in it, and Brian carried the luggage… I mean, diaper bag.  Anyway, while we (by we, I mean all of us) were at the park, I took some more pictures.

Here is another failed attempt at getting both of my children to look at the camera and smile simultaneously…

And here is Zane playing on the playground equipment…

This was Selah’s first trip to a park…

We (by we, I mean all of us) had fun!

We (by we, I mean Brian and I) decided that we (by we, I mean the four of us) should go geocaching more.  I think we might try to do at least one park a week, when the weather is nice.  It will be a great way to spend time as a family, and give us something to do other than watch TV!

I am becoming more comfortable with our camera (Canon Rebel) and had fun trying to figure out what angle to shoot the natural light photos from.  I have a LONG way to go before I am any good at it, but I think I got a few good shots!

We got Selah’s birth pictures in from Artscow.  I used their 54-design playing cards to make wallets with her birth information on the back.  I am so pleased with how they turned out.  I also ordered regular wallets (which are slightly smaller than the playing cards), 4×6′s, 5×7′s, and 8×10′s.  I am excited about how well all of them came out.  Since the hospital didn’t take her birth pictures, I did them all myself.  I did good, if I do say so myself.  LOL.

We also took her to Wells Family Photography to get her 1 month pictures done.  We have a 16×20 of Zane in our living room, that is just gorgeous, that they took.  We wanted a similar one of Selah to display as well.  We had a lot of fun, and the portraits were great.  I will be getting digital proofs this week and will link it up so that you can see them as well.  The one of her with the angel wings is priceless.

Gotta run, time to feed the baby!

Be blessed!
