I just couldn’t stand the wait…

I’ve been collecting Digitreats ABC Kits, pretty much since she started them.  I have a few that I am missing, and will collect those when the series is done and I can do a one stop shopping venture.  I’ve been wanting to scrap some pictures of Mister with Digitreats kits, but have been waiting for the "Z."  I know, I know!  But, her alpha’s are really cute and I wanted to put his name on them!

She recently reopened her personalized sets offer (information here), so I took the dive and got some.  I was going to wait to use them, but just like a kid on Christmas morning, when I got my zip file from her, I had to tear it open and start scrapping!  Here the a page that I stayed up until 2AM to finish and post!  LOL.

Thanks so much, Pam!  I love my sets and can’t wait to save up enough to get the personalized elements!!!

I can’t wait to use the rest of the papers that I got from her!  Poor Mister, I subjected him to an hour and a half of "picture time" so that I could get that shot!

He is still tossing the sippy cup around like it is a toy, but the spout is making it into his mouth more frequently!  Progress?  I hope so.

He is also using his pincer grasp now!  He’s actually picking up cheerios with his thumb and forefinger instead of scooping them with his palm.  I know, pincer grasp doesn’t seem so awesome, but it is a major milestone as far as I am concerned!

Well, I have to go to sleep now, cause I only get to sleep in so late on Saturdays.  Thank God for my DH, Brian, who takes Z duty on Saturday mornings.  LOL.

Be blessed.

I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP…

We had friends over for dinner this evening.  They have two kids, one of which is adopted, the other is homegrown.  We wanted a chance to talk with them about their adoption experience.

The evening was so much fun.  I made the cranberry chicken, which they enjoyed.  They brought chocolate cake, which I enjoyed.  LOL.

It was great to get to hear about their experience with the adoption process.  They had quite a few ups and downs, and I think that their friendship will help us get by as we go through the process ourselves.

It was so neat to see Mister playing with their kids, although he currently has NO concept of sharing.  LOL.  It’s a good thing that they do, because they did so well!

They also gave us the number of the attorney that they used for their adoption.  I have a feeling I’ll be making some phone calls tomorrow.

We finished up our Autobiographies for the home study.  Now we just have to photocopy everything so that we can get it mailed.

Be blessed!

Puzzle Dumper, Sippy Update, Scattegories

Puzzle Dumper

My friend, Amanda, gave us some wooden puzzles for Mister.  You know, the kind with large alpha’s and numbers and stuff.

Mister likes to pull the puzzle pieces off of the puzzles.  So, I sit on the floor with him and put the pieces back in as he takes them out.  He generally pulls a couple off, and drops them as I am putting others in so that he can pull more off.  It’s kind of funny, because he furiously tries to get more off as I am putting pieces back in place.

Well, as we were playing this new game, I thought it would be funny to see what he would do if I started putting the pieces in faster than he could pull them off… He grabbed the puzzle by the corner and dumped it.  LOL.  All of the pieces were off.

I guess I lost.

Sippy Cup Update

The sippy cup experiment is going well.  He actually put the spout of the sippy cup to his mouth tonight.  I removed the valve so that he could actually get some juice out of it, and it appeared that he may have gotten a dribble or two in his mouth as the stream ran down his chin.  Daddy wasn’t so impressed when the sippy cup became a flying object and the stream of apple juice ran down his leg!  Ah well, the thrills of teaching new skills to a baby.

Scattegories

My Aunt sent this Scattegories e-mail to me, and I thought it would be interesting to post it, and see if anyone would leave their answers…

Here is a fun game to play after having a stressful week at work,

Try to use different answers if the person in front of you had the same 1st initial. You CAN’T use your name for the boy/girl name question. Okay,

Sippy Cups, Standing Up, and a Few Recipes

Sippy Cups

A few weeks ago, I introduced a sippy cup to Mister.  He still thinks it’s a toy.  The thing goes everywhere BUT his mouth.  So, on Sunday, I was commiserating with a friend (Christy), and she suggested that I try giving Mister sips from a cup without a lid to get him started.  She said that back in the ’80s, that is how they got their kids to transition.  Because sippy cups have spill proof valves, she said that Mister might not realize that he can get something out of the thing by sucking on it.  Now, why didn’t I think of that?

So, yesterday I decided to give it a whirl.  At lunch time, I got out a cup and mixed some apple juice with water (he’s still on half strength juice) and gave him a sip from the cup.  Wouldn’t you know that he just loved it!  Of course, he wore as much as he sipped, but he really enjoyed the new way of drinking.  We repeated the exercise at dinner and he was so happy.

This morning, when I got the cup out, he actually got excited!  At lunch and at dinner, he tried to take the cup!  How cute is that?  I’m hoping that this means that we will be making a smooth transition to sippy cups by the time he is a year old.  We’ve got a little over 2 months to work at it, so wish me luck.

Standing Up

Mister has been pulling up on the furniture and cruising for a few weeks now.  But today, he actually stood on his own.  I mean, pushed up from the ground and stood on his own two legs without any help and without holding on to anything!  It lasted only a few seconds, because he got so excited that he landed on his bumm again.  I am excited to see what he does tomorrow.

A few recipes

Pamela over at Digitreats is doing a recipe exchange through the end of September.  She is allowing us to use her ABC Kits (Run, Skip, Jump) to make recipe cards and she is collecting them all.  At the end of the month, everyone that participates will get copies of ALL of the recipes submitted.  How fun is that?  I wanted to show you the two that I submitted today…

If you want these bad boys, you will have to participate in the exchange.

You can find more details about the Recipe Brag Book here.

Now, jump on over there, because I want copies of your favorite recipes, too!

Be blessed!

Buy me a Wagon Sale…

lvd_template_buymeawagon

Hey ya’ll, Mister here.

I’m taking over Mommy’s blog for a minute… shhhh… she’s doesn’t know it.

Anyway, I saw this really cool wagon by Step 2, it’s called the Safari Wagon.  wagon-step2

It’s got a canopy on it, so that my head wouldn’t get sunburned when we go for walks outside.  I want it for Christmas.  But, Mommy and Daddy are paying for a home study right now (whatever that is) so that they can get my little brother (or sister).  Did I mention that the wagon is built for two?  That means I can take my new brother or sister for a ride.  Yeah!

So, I thought I would sneak on here, and put Mommy’s store on sale for 30% off.  That way, if she has enough sales, she can buy me the wagon for Christmas.

She’s got some cool new stuff in the store, like these overlay sets for just $3 each ($2.10 during sale)…
